Backyard Mosquito Control and Elimination

Every South Texas resident should be concerned about mosquitos present in their yards and neighborhoods. They have a painful bite which often leads to annoying skin itching and secondary infection from bacteria entering the scratched, open skin. If that isn’t bad enough, mosquitos also are capable of transmitting various diseases – West Nile Virus, Zika Virus, Encephalitis, Malaria, Bird Flu and Dog Heartworm.

At Family Pest Control we offer two different solutions for controlling the mosquito population around your home. Contact us today to schedule a free estimate for your home at: 210-681-5094.

Misting Service

Backpack Misting works exactly as the name implies. Modified leaf blowers are used to produce a powerful burst of fine insecticide mist. The spray process ensures that every crease and crevice that could be populated by mosquitoes and their larva is covered. The child and pet-friendly products work quickly to kill mosquitoes and interrupt their life cycles.

Right now Family Pest Control is offering homeowners their Backpack Misting service for $85 on the initial treatment and $65 for each consecutive month because they believe in all of their proven advantages. Misting allows exterminators to reach areas that are difficult to reach with conventional spraying equipment, like tree tops and the underneath of leaves. This type of mosquito treatment has been proven through the University of Kentucky entomological research to immediately knock down an average of 95% of existing mosquito populations, and then controlling 75% of the population for one month. It is also appropriate for some indoor use, especially in barns, buildings, workshops, and other non-residential applications.

In2Care Mosquito Traps

The In2Care Mosquito Trap is made of durable plastic and uses water with an odor lure to attract egg-laying Aedes mosquitos. The Aedes mosquito is responsible for most, if not all, bites received around your home. These tiny pests prefer the blood of mammals, such as humans and their pets. They also do not venture far from their original breeding sites and they will bite at any time of the day or night.

Once inside, mosquitos contact the specially treated gauze near the water surface. The device exploits the fact that Aedes mosquitos like to divide their eggs over multiple sites: by letting them fly out of the trap while carrying larvicide on their legs. They transport the larvicide and contaminate several breeding sites around the trap including small and hard to find breeding sources. The mosquito also gets infected with an insect-specific fungus that can block Dengue and Zika virus replication and kills her before she can spread disease. The chemical and fungus used in the In2Care Trap only affects mosquitos and is safe for other animals.

A typical residential sized lot would require from 4 to 5 traps scattered throughout the property at an initial set-up fee of $180 to $225 and would begin controlling mosquitos for one month. The traps have to be re-charged with the chemicals thereafter at monthly intervals, costing $15 for each trap.
